Job Title: Network Engineer (Operations and Exercises DCIS)
Security Clearance: Active NATO Secret Clearance Required
Contract: 6 Months
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join a high-profile NATO programme in Grazzanise, Italy. This role is ideal for a senior network professional with extensive experience designing, implementing, and supporting complex enterprise network infrastructures within mission-critical environments.
Working as part of a highly skilled team, you will provide advanced Level 3 network support, resolve high-impact incidents, contribute to network optimisation initiatives, and support the delivery of infrastructure projects across secure, multi-domain environments.
Key Responsibilities
Provide advanced Level 3 support for complex enterprise network environments.
Lead the technical resolution of critical network incidents and implement long-term solutions.
Design, implement, and support enterprise routing and switching infrastructures.
Plan and deliver network enhancements while ensuring minimal operational impact.
Support routing and switching activities across multiple NATO sites.
Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise networking technologies.
Develop and maintain technical documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Collaborate with internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners to ensure service excellence.
Support network monitoring, automation, and continuous service improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Minimum of 8 years' experience in complex network engineering environments.
Active CCNP Enterprise or CCNP Service Provider certification.
Strong expertise in: BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS and IPv6
Experience with SD-WAN technologies
Experience with Multicast networking
Data Centre networking experience (Cisco Nexus, VXLAN, Spine-Leaf)
QoS design and implementation
Network security including VPNs, ACLs, IPSec and AAA
Experience with network automation using Python, Ansible, or Terraform.
Strong troubleshooting skills using tools such as Wireshark, NetFlow and SNMP.
Experience with network monitoring and incident management platforms.
Knowledge of ITIL and configuration management best practices.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently and within multinational teams.
CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure, Routing & Switching or Service Provider certification.
Experience working within NATO or defence environments.
Knowledge of NATO Command and Control (C2) systems.
Experience supporting international military or government organisations.
