We are seeking a skilled Network Consulting Engineer to join a specialist professional services team supporting major enterprise and service provider (SP) customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, deploying, and troubleshooting complex network environments, working both on-site and remotely across a range of customer engagements in Italy and across the EMEA region. This is a customer-facing consultancy role requiring both deep technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills. You will operate across both proactive (design, deployment, migration) and reactive (incident resolution, problem management) workstreams.

Key Responsibilities

Consulting & Delivery

  • Drive technology design, implementation, and optimisation for customer engagements
  • Work with customers to plan, design, configure and diagnose networking solutions to accelerate business outcomes
  • Create and review project deliverables including High Level Design (HLD), Low Level Design (LLD), and Implementation/Change Management Plans
  • Build and leverage test/lab environments to validate complex solutions and resolve compatibility issues
  • Deliver customer presentations, training sessions, and technology overviews (TOI/QBR)
  • Translate business requirements into solution designs and align technical deliverables to customer outcomes

Proactive Support Confidential

  • Assist customers with deployment of network configurations and change implementation
  • Plan and execute complex network upgrade and migration activities
  • Drive customer technology transitions, influencing solution architectures
  • Contribute to automation tooling, scripts, and digital intellectual capital

Reactive Support

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex customer network problems across a broad range of technologies
  • Act as focal point for problem resolution on assigned customer accounts
  • Guide customers through complex incident and problem management processes
  • Ensure major network issues are resolved promptly and professionally

Required Technical Skills

Networking Protocols & Technologies

  • Strong expertise in Service Provider (SP) core and metro access technologies
  • Advanced knowledge of IP routing protocols: BGP, ISIS, OSPF
  • MPLS — L2VPN and L3VPN architectures
  • Segment Routing (SR) — including Traffic Engineering (SR-TE) and Fast Reroute (FRR)
  • EVPN (Ethernet VPN) — design and troubleshooting
  • Quality of Service (QoS) design and implementation
  • Network management protocols: SNMPv3, Syslog, TWAMP, NETCONF/YANG
  • LAN Switching, IP Routing, and Data Centre networking

Platforms & Tooling

  • Hands‑on experience with high‑end SP routing platforms (carrier‑grade routers and switches)
  • Experience with IOS XR and IOS XE operating systems
  • Virtualisation technologies (e.g. VMware and equivalents)
  • Network automation and orchestration tools (e.g. NSO or equivalent)
  • Scripting and automation skills (Python, Ansible, or similar)
  • Network monitoring and telemetry platforms

Operations & Process

  • Good understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks
  • Experience with Incident and Problem Management in production SP environments
  • Familiarity with change management processes and controlled deployment methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional-level networking certification (e.g. CCNP or equivalent — SPCOR / SPRI track preferred)
  • Prior experience in a customer-facing consulting or professional services role
  • Experience working within Service Provider networks (mobile, fixed, or both)
  • Exposure to advanced routing design for large-scale SP environments

Experience Requirements

  • BSc in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or equivalent technical qualification
  • 4–6 years of hands‑on experience in network implementation and/or network operations
  • Experience in medium to large-scale SP or enterprise network environments
  • Track record of delivering independently on complex, multi‑technology projects
  • Preferred: prior experience working with or for a Service Provider customer
