NDT ENGINEER
Definition of NDT Engineer
The NDT Engineer is the person that follows the non-destructive testing activities on pipelay off-shore projects.
Tasks performed by NDT Engineer
- Overall co-ordination of the NDE Phase of off-shore projects:
- Preparation of NDT procedures and QC documents related to the project.
- Qualify NDT procedures, planning activities and tests in order to comply project program and expectations. Face Client representatives in coordination with Project Welding Coordinators.
- Preparation of specifications of NDT equipment.
- Verify the preparation of project consumables and equipment. Liaise with the construction team to ensure the set-up of the equipment required during production.
- Organisation of NDT Supervisors and Technicians when necessary for the performance of the work.
- Verification and supervision of NDT activities during start up of the projects.
- Transfer (and if requested advice for what necessary) to site or on board teams the procedure and project requirements. Verify that set-up and procedures are in line with project, contractual and Client requirements. Assist site or on board teams for critical matters, unexpected situation, Client liaison and relationship.
- Maintenance of professional competence in NDE.
- Verify the performance of subcontractors
- Collect project data in order to feed statistics aimed to improve productivity and quality.
- Develop and test new procedures and methods.
Locations of the work of NDT Engineer:
The work of NDT Engineer is carried out at the Welding and NDT Workshops, Subcontractors facilities and on board pipe lay vessels located worldwide.
Education and skills:
- High school or technical degree is required.
- Intermediate Computer Skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Office.
- Excellent communication skills: verbal and written.
