Ferring+You
As a National Key Account Manager , you will play a strategic role in driving sustainable growth, ensuring optimal access, and securing the availability of the Ferring pharmaceutical portfolio across Italy. You will be responsible for building and leading high-impact partnerships with key stakeholders across retail and hospital channels, identifying new business opportunities, and developing tailored, value-based solutions that maximize patient access and business performance.
You will contribute to the successful implementation of Ferring’s products and services across the entire portfolio, covering the following therapeutic areas: Gastroenterology, Fertility, Gynecology, Urology / Pediatrics, Specialties.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Customer Service, Tender Office, and Sales, to deliver value to customers. Your role will involve analyzing market trends, understanding customer needs, and positioning Ferring’s offerings to provide effective, tailored, and value-added solutions.
A strong customer-centric approach and the ability to build trust and credibility with customers and stakeholders are essential for success in this role. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Sales and must be based in Milan or Rome.
Your day at Ferring
The National Key A ccount Manager role is critical in ensuring the long-term success of our business by maintaining strong partnerships with healthcare providers, hospitals, and other stakeholders. This role focuses on medium- to long-term planning and face-to-face selling of a variety of products, services, and solutions across multiple therapeutic areas for a defined group of key clients.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, distribution channel, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in account management and sales . The role requires a strong customer-centric approach , the ability to build trust and credibility with clients, and the capacity to deliver tailored, value-added solutions.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain active relationships with all major Italian wholesalers and pharmacy chain to ensure optimal listing, assortment, and availability of the Ferring portfolio
  • Ensure end-to-end product availability across all sales channels in retail by strengthening wholesaler partnerships and in hospital guaranteeing regional access, maintaining relationships with key hospital pharmacists, and coordinating tender activities while developing strategies together with Area Managers and the Head of Sales
  • Develop, define, and execute the product assortment strategy for the Ferring portfolio, aligned with Ferring’s business objectives and brand priorities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities
  • Create and implement strategic account plans
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity
  • Negotiate contracts and manage account budgets
  • Map and manage strategic accounts (e.g., hospitals, local health authorities, reference centers, distributors)
  • Plan customized strategies for each key client
  • Monitor budgets and public tenders
  • Negotiate commercial terms in compliance with applicable regulations
  • Provide regular reports on account performance

Experience Required:
  • Mandatory experience managing relationships with Wholesalers, hospitals, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders
  • Proven experience in Key or Strategic Account Management within pharmaceuticals or healthcare
  • Track record in sales strategy development, consultative selling, negotiation, and account growth
  • Familiarity with market analysis, budget monitoring, and public tender processes
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams (Sales, Marketing, Medical, CommEx)
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and digital tools
  • Proficiency in english
  • Strong understanding of the Italian retail, pharmacy, and hospital market, including key wholesalers, pharmacy chains, and regional access pathways
  • Ability to analyze clinical and economic data to inform account strategies
This role requires significant travel, ranging from 65% to 80% of the time, depending on the candidate’s place of residence
