Job Title
Modeling System Thermal Engineer – Piove di Sacco, Italy
Responsibilities
- Develop accurate, high-performance mathematical models for HVAC components (evaporators, condensers, compressors, fans, pumps) using physics-based equations.
- Design and implement efficient, stable algorithms to simulate single- and multi-circuit HVAC systems, including chilled-water CRAC units, air‑cooled and water‑cooled liquid chillers, and liquid cooling configurations.
- Apply advanced numerical methods to solve complex multi-circuit system schemes with high computational efficiency.
- Prepare technical documentation on thermal modeling and analysis.
- Utilize primary programming languages for modeling tasks such as Cadence, FlowNex, MathLAB Simulink, FloMaster, and Simscale.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related field with a strong focus on thermodynamics.
- Solid understanding of single‑phase and two‑phase fluid dynamics, refrigerant mechanics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.
- Familiarity with numerical methods and iterative approaches for refrigerant circuits and hydronic circuit systems.
- Knowledge of HVAC system operation, component balancing, and system integration.
- 1–2+ years of experience in thermal engineering is preferred; highly motivated new graduates are welcome.
- Proficiency in object‑oriented software and willingness to learn coding skills on the job.
- Practical application experience with main CFD simulation software, both one‑ and two‑dimensional.
- Highly self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and proactive team player.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and communication tools (MS Teams, Outlook).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Italian fluency (verbal and written) is highly desirable.
- Residency near Vertiv’s Tognana (Padova) site or willingness to relocate.
- Strong interest in developing expertise in thermodynamic / flow‑dynamic numerical simulation and modeling.
