Falmouth Middle School is looking for a School Counselor (075 ME School Counseling or equivalent certification) to join our student services team. The successful candidate is an enthusiastic and flexible person who can help us envision and deliver a strong social/emotional support program. This individual understands and appreciates the unique challenges of adolescence and thrives on working with middle school‑aged students.
Responsibilities of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Designing, coordinating, and delivering social emotional programming and guidance curriculum to students in conjunction with co‑counselor; conducting small group and individual counseling as needed
- Assisting in establishing restorative practices throughout the school
- Collaborating closely with co‑counselor, grade level teams, and teachers in support of the social‑emotional and academic needs of all students
- Serving as point person for parents and teachers in responding to concerns and/or coordinating support for the academic, social, and developmental growth of students
- Facilitating meetings involving parents, faculty, students, and administration
- Participating in IEP and 504 meetings; acting as case manager for student 504 plans as needed
- Coordinating orientations and transitions of students from 5th to 6th grade, and from 8th to 9th grade
- Consulting with administration and teacher leaders regarding curricular and scheduling matters
- Collecting and interpreting data in student records for parents, students, faculty, and appropriate professional agencies and school
This individual will champion positive school culture throughout our school and serve as a resource for school staff in doing that work. The right candidate is comfortable working with all personalities and is dedicated to ongoing professional learning.
Qualifications / Certifications / Experience / Degree requirement
- Masters in School Counseling
- 075 ME School Counseling (or equivalent)
- Experience working with middle school learners
- Approved background check (run by the district)
