The (Micro)Strategy Business Intelligence Engineer plays a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable BI solutions that support strategic decision-making across GEB. This role focuses on transforming complex data into actionable insights using the MicroStrategy BI tool, ensuring data accuracy, performance, and usability. The Engineer collaborates with business stakeholders, data governance specialists, and IT teams to deliver high-impact dashboards, reports, and analytics aligned with GEB’s data strategy.


Main accountabilities (non-exhaustive list):

  • Design and develop BI solutions using MicroStrategy, including dashboards, reports, and visualizations tailored to business needs
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and data models
  • Optimize data queries and report performance across large datasets
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security in all BI deliverables
  • Collaborate with data governance and data warehouse teams to ensure alignment with metadata, lineage, and quality standards
  • Maintain and enhance semantic layers, cubes, and schema objects in MicroStrategy
  • Support the integration of new data sources and ensure compatibility with existing BI architecture
  • Provide technical support and training to business users on MicroStrategy tools and best practices
  • Document BI processes, configurations, and data flows for audit and compliance purposes
  • Stay current with BI trends and MicroStrategy platform updates to recommend improvements
  • Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks reasonably aligned with the scope of this role, as required by evolving business needs

Desirable skills & competencies:

  • VProven experience in MicroStrategy development, including schema and application objects, reports, dashboards, and dossiers
  • Experience with MicroStrategy components such as Web, Developer and Object
  • Exposure on Regression Testing using MicroStrategy Integrity manager is a plus
  • Good understanding on MicroStrategy Object and Data security layers
  • Strong understanding of data modelling, ETL processes, and data warehouse architecture
  • Proficiency in SQL and ability to optimize queries for performance
  • Knowledge of data governance principles, including metadata management and data lineage
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated technical affinity for data architecture and tooling, with proven ability to efficiently categorize, manage, and map data across complex environments
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and iterative delivery cycles
  • Team-oriented mindset with a proactive and collaborative approach


Desirable qualifications & background:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, data engineering, information systems, or a related field
  • 4+ years of experience in BI engineering or data analytics roles, preferably in an international environment
  • Certification in MicroStrategy or other BI platforms is a plus
  • Python knowledge is a plus
  • Experience in employee benefits, reinsurance, or financial services data is an asset
  • Familiarity with data governance, compliance, and security best practices
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as required by business needs
  • Fluent in English, any other language would be considered an asset
