Medical Director

FRI Communication Group is a leading communications agency with offices in Florence and Milan, specializing in medical-scientific communication for both national and international clients. We partner with top pharmaceutical and healthcare companies to deliver impactful projects across multiple therapeutic areas.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Medical Director to lead our scientific strategy and ensure excellence in all medical content produced by the agency. This senior role will oversee the medical-scientific team, guide the development of high-quality materials, and ensure alignment with client objectives, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Scientific Leadership: Define the medical-scientific vision of the projects, ensuring strategic alignment with client goals and positioning FRI as a trusted partner in healthcare communication.
• Content Oversight: Supervise the development of all scientific content.
• Strategic Consultancy: Advise clients on scientific communication strategies, therapeutic positioning, and messaging, based on in-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical markets and trends.
• Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop the medical-scientific team, fostering collaboration across creative, account, and production teams.
• Quality & Compliance: Guarantee that all deliverables meet the highest standards of scientific integrity, medical accuracy, and compliance with international and local regulations.
• Business Development Support: Contribute to pitches, proposals, and strategic presentations for new and existing clients.

Qualifications and Skills

• Advanced degree in a life science discipline (PharmD, PhD, MD, or equivalent).
• Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in a senior scientific/medical role within a healthcare communication agency, pharmaceutical company, or related environment.
• Proven expertise in multiple therapeutic areas, with the ability to quickly adapt to new topics.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.

Contract & Location

• Contract type and compensation to be defined based on experience and competencies.
• Position based in Florence
