The Country Medical Director will be responsible for the functions of Medical Affairs and, in some instance, Regulatory Affairs, and / or Pharmacovigilance / Drug Safety / (Global) Clinical Operations at the Local Operating Company (LOC) level. He / she will lead a team of employees supporting these functions to achieve its Purpose: that every patient who benefit more from Janssen treatments than the alternative gets them. He / She will partner with colleagues across the LOC and EMEA region to set Medical Affairs strategies, goals, priorities, and activities. To drive strategy, he / she will stay at the forefront of innovation, build business partnerships, champion change initiatives and ensure excellence in execution.

- Business partnership – Country Medical Directors are strong business partners sharing responsibility for business growth with their cross-functional peers and are accountable for achieving the Medical Affairs Purpose.
- Building and Executing Aligned Strategies – Country Medical Directors are connected to all internal stakeholders and use their influence in order to build aligned strategies that factor all parties’ needs and enhance the competitiveness of the Enterprise and Local Operating Company.
- Execution Excellence – Country Medical Directors are accountable for timely and high-quality delivery on their area of responsibilities and, while piloting key metrics, seek for constant improvement.
- Champion Change Initiatives – To fulfill our Credo and Medical Affairs Purpose, Country Medical Directors fully and actively support the evolution of our business by co-creating and championing change initiatives at the level of EMEA, through their contribution to the EMEA Medical Affairs Leadership Team, and at the Local Operating Company level.
- Staying at the Forefront of Innovation – Taking an Outside in View: By championing patient and physician needs in the organization, Country Medical Directors act as the voice of the Company representing the science across a range of critical external stakeholders.

- Actively Supporting Company Growth – Develop, shape and implement the local Medical Affairs strategy in alignment with EMEA.
- Ensure that competitive medical strategies are prepared and implemented, and that scientific medical leadership is provided for all marketed / pre-launch products.
