Email* Print**Canadian School of Florence****High School****Starting date: September 2026**We are seeking to appoint a passionate, dedicated and motivated Media, Arts & English Teacher!As a High School teacher at the Canadian School of Florence you will be responsible for the planning, delivery and evaluation of Media, Arts & English courses to our high school students. You will teach the Ontario Curriculum ensuring the programs are relevant, engaging and fit for purpose. Working with the Senior Leadership Team and other colleagues in the department and Student Support teams, you will contribute to the ongoing success and growth of the school through your contribution of excellent classroom practice, positive and collaborative and willingness to support the wider life of the school.**Teaching and Learning*** Promote the ‘mission’ and philosophy of the school, ensuring that children are working towards being true global citizens;* Be flexible and adjust to the needs of the school, actively contributing to its development plans and growth;* Implement agreed policies and developments;* Demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge, teach, and assess effectively;* Meet requirements for the assessment, evaluation, and recording of students’ development;* Use the student tracking and monitoring processes to advance children’s learning in line with the school’s aspirations and priorities;* Take responsibility for and contribute to professional development;* Effectively communicate the school's key messages and values, be an ambassador for our school at all times.**Responsibilities*** Ensure that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting are of the highest quality and meet the varying learning and social needs of students;* Create a classroom environment that is inclusive and where all students feel comfortable expressing their views, opinions and needs;* To demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge, teach and assess effectively and take active responsibility for student progress;* Use tracking, monitoring and intervention processes to advance student learning;* Communicate effectively to the school’s stakeholders, being an ambassador for the school at all times;* Take personal responsibility for professional development;* Be flexible and adjust to the needs of the school, actively contributing to its development;* Ensure school policies are understood and followed consistently.**Your profile****Education & Training*** Bachelor of Education degree (Ontario or equivalent);* Qualified to teach middle school students in English;* First language English Speaker;* EAL and language acquisition knowledge and/or experience.**Experience*** Proven experience in teaching in High School;* Demonstrates creativity and a passion for teaching and a strong work ethic;* Experience with innovative teaching and learning;* Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, negotiation, and mediation skills;* Commitment to the mission and vision of the school, the academic and co-curricular directions;* Be enthusiastic, energetic, and able to nurture unique learning experiences for students;* Able to thrive in a collaborative, flexible and supportive team environment;* Commitment to safeguarding and equality;* Commitment to maintaining confidentiality;* High level of teaching, communication and presentation skills;* Experience in an international setting is an asset;* Extracurricular experience is an asset.**The school**Canadian School of Florence is a K-12 school with students from 3 to 18. The lower primary (Pre- Kindergarten to grade 3) campus is in San Domenico, Fiesole. The Upper primary campus (Grades 4 & 6) and Middle School campus (Grades 7-8) are also located in a nearby piazza. The Senior School (Grades 9-12) is in Florence, in a beautiful historical building, less than 2 km away from the Junior school.Across all our campuses, courses are taught in English (except for Italian and French), based on the Canada (Ontario) curriculum with preparation, in Italian, for the Italian national exams as a “paritaria” school. Our students work towards gaining the Ontario Secondary School Diploma which is recognized by universities worldwide. We also offer the Liceo delle Scienze Umane at our high school providing an opportunity for our students to gain a dual diploma.The Ontario curriculum combines the best of Canadian and International educational practices into proven academic programs aimed at developing students' independent learning, collaboration, communication, and leadership skills.
