About the Role
UFI Hydrogen Spa is looking for a MEA Test Operator to join its testing and quality team at the Serravalle (Ala, TN) facility. The selected candidate will play a key role in supporting the testing and validation activities of Membrane Electrode Assemblies (MEA) through the operation and maintenance of electrochemical test benches, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and compliance with quality and safety standards. The position reports hierarchically to the Quality & Testing Manager and functionally to the MEA Testing Lead.
Responsibilities
The MEA Test Operator will be responsible for the following activities:
Test Preparation:
- Receive work orders and MEA samples, verify IDs, Bill of Materials (BoM) traceability, and correct loading;
- Prepare fixtures, gaskets, and hardware;
- Set test protocols in control software according to validated procedures.
Test Execution:
- Operate MEA test benches and execute predefined protocols (polarization curves, EIS, cross-over, etc.);
- Monitor test parameters, safety interlocks, and alarm systems throughout the testing process.
Equipment Management:
- Perform first-level maintenance and calibration checks;
- Manage consumables and ensure test benches are operational;
- Identify and escalate technical issues when needed.
EHS & Compliance:
- Apply hydrogen safety and high-pressure handling procedures;
- Ensure correct use of PPE and proper management of chemical waste;
- Contribute to laboratory risk assessments.
Continuous Improvement:
- Apply 5S methodology within the laboratory environment;
- Suggest improvements for test efficiency, safety, and data quality.
Requirements
- Technical diploma (Mechanical or Electrotechnical preferred);
- 1–3 years of experience in laboratory testing or metrology;
- Previous experience in electrochemical testing is an advantage, but not mandatory.
- Operation of test benches and laboratory instrumentation (flow, pressure, temperature, humidity);
- Basic maintenance and calibration of instruments;
- Data acquisition and reporting;
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and P&ID diagrams;
- Knowledge of PLC/HMI interfaces and Python is considered a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and disciplined execution;
- Good problem-solving attitude and communication skills;
- Teamwork-oriented and flexible with work shifts;
- Commitment to safety and quality standards.
- Italian: fluent (working language);
- English: good understanding of technical documentation and ability to write basic reports.
