Market Entry & Compliance Lead

EcoFlare Energy is building an AI-driven electricity trading platform designed to provide automated bidding and trading optimization for large-scale energy storage assets.

Our initial target market is Italy, where the platform will support grid-connected storage projects and enable live trading operations.

We are looking for a Market Entry & Platform Operations Lead to become EcoFlare’s first on-the-ground hire in Europe.

What You Will Do

Market Entry & Compliance

• Lead the full process of establishing an Italian SRL legal entity , including all registration procedures
• Drive the application for GME market membership qualification and coordinate financial guarantee arrangements
• Identify and evaluate local partners (including existing GME-qualified market participants), and jointly define a feasible go-to-market path from MVP validation to live trading
• Continuously monitor regulatory developments in the Italian power market (including TIDE reform, ARERA resolutions, and Terna rule updates ), assess their impact on the platform and business, and communicate updates to the team in a timely manner
• Prepare for the next phase by gaining familiarity with Terna Gaudì portal, UP registration processes, and BSP technical pre-qualification requirements

Product Definition & Engineering Collaboration

• Act as the “product lens” for the European market , translating real trading scenarios, user needs, and regulatory constraints in Italy into clear and actionable product requirements
• Help the engineering team understand what the platform must look like to actually operate in the Italian market
• Work closely with backend engineers and algorithm teams in China, participating in feature reviews and testing , ensuring that key modules (e.g., GME bidding interfaces, market data integration, strategy engine) meet real market requirements
• Define product requirements related to compliance, security, and auditability , such as:
• Trade log retention requirements
• Regulatory reporting formats
• Risk control rule configurations
• Ensure the AI platform operates in a secure, reliable, and compliant manner

Platform Launch & Ongoing Operations

• Align with the grid-connection timeline of Italian storage projects to ensure the platform goes live on schedule and enters real trading operations
• After launch, take responsibility for ongoing platform operations in Italy , including:
• Regulatory communication
• Compliance maintenance
• Operational issue response
• Build and maintain a local network (regulators, legal advisors, industry partners) to support EcoFlare’s long-term business development in Italy

European Market Expansion

• After successful operation in Italy, lead the evaluation and expansion into other European markets (e.g., Germany, Spain, France )
• Replicate and scale the experience and methodology developed in Italy

What We Expect

• Deep understanding of the Italian (or broader European) electricity market structure and regulatory framework , including familiarity with GME / MGP / MSD market mechanisms
• Proven experience working with regulators to obtain market access approvals
• Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory frameworks and communicate them clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills, with the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments
• Fluent Italian (required) and English as a working language (required) ; Chinese is a plus
• A proactive, curious, and action-oriented working style

Nice to Have

• Experience in European power spot trading or energy storage industry
• Background as a Product Manager or Business Analyst , with the ability to independently conduct requirement analysis and product definition
• Familiarity with Italy’s Golden Power regulations or foreign investment review processes
• Experience with BSP/BRP registration or Terna compliance integration
• Experience in building compliance and risk management frameworks
