If you’re interested in this role, please apply in English and include an English version of your Resume/CV.**The Role:**The Market Access & Public Affairs Italy Lead provides leadership and accountability for Market Access and Public Affairs activities across Italy, ensuring timely, equitable, and sustainable access to Moderna’s vaccine portfolio across national and regional healthcare systems.The role has accountability for both national and regional market access strategy and execution, with particular emphasis on regional access strategy, tendering, and institutional engagement. The Director defines Italy-specific access approaches and value narratives, aligned with global frameworks, to support successful launches and long-term portfolio sustainability.Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Director partners closely with the General Manager on national topics and serves as the primary senior leader for Market Access and Public Affairs in Italy, representing Moderna with key national and regional stakeholders influencing vaccine adoption, positioning, and uptake. The position has national scope and requires regular engagement across Italian regions in line with business priorities.**Here’s What You’ll Do:****Market Access & Public Affairs Strategy (National and Regional)*** Lead the Italy Market Access & Public Affairs strategy for current and future vaccines, ensuring alignment with global frameworks while defining Italy-specific priorities and approaches.* Be accountable for national and regional access outcomes, including reimbursement success, tender performance, and sustainability of access models.* Define and govern Italy pricing, reimbursement, and HTA strategy, adapting global inputs and exercising decision authority on country-level positioning and value narratives.* Lead national engagement related to inclusion and updates of the Piano Nazionale Prevenzione Vaccinale (PNPV) and vaccination calendar, representing Moderna’s strategic interests.* Provide strategic oversight of interactions with AIFA, including direction, review, and approval of pricing and reimbursement submissions and HTA evidence.* Anticipate and assess national and regional policy, HTA, reimbursement, and funding developments to inform access strategy and risk mitigation.**Regional Access & Institutional Leadership*** Provide strategic leadership for regional access across Italy, setting engagement priorities and access models with Regional Directors of Prevention, Regional Procurement bodies, and Regional Health Authorities.* Lead and oversee regional tenders and access frameworks, including innovative and value-based agreements where appropriate.* Guide the development and approval of innovative access models (e.g., value-based or outcome-oriented agreements) demonstrating population health and budget impact.* Ensure consistent, compliant, and differentiated regional communication of Moderna’s product value propositions.**Public Affairs & External Leadership*** Define and execute Italy public affairs activities in alignment with national priorities and business objectives, in close collaboration with the General Manager.* Represent Moderna in senior-level scientific, policy, and institutional forums, positioning mRNA innovation as a strategic contribution to public health.* Lead Moderna’s participation in relevant industry associations, coalitions, and public health working groups (e.g., Farmindustria Vaccination Group).**Cross-Functional & Country Leadership*** Serve as the Italy access lead within cross-functional launch governance, contributing to country launch strategy, prioritization, and readiness decisions.* Partner with Medical, HEOR, Global Market Access, and Commercial leadership to ensure integrated value strategies, evidence generation plans, and launch execution.* Provide regular strategic insights to Italy leadership on regional policy developments, funding mechanisms, procurement tenders, and competitive dynamics.* Foster Moderna’s culture and mindsets while supporting the development and effectiveness of Market Access and Public Affairs capabilities within the Italy organization.**Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications):*** Advanced degree in Life Sciences, Health Economics, Public Health, Pharmacy, Economics, or related field.* Minimum 8 years of experience in Market Access, Public Affairs, Commercial, or Health Policy roles, with significant hands-on experience in regional market access in Italy.* Proven experience working extensively with regional access bodies, ideally in a senior regional or national market access role within a pharmaceutical or vaccine company.* Demonstrated experience negotiating regional tenders and access models.* Strong understanding of the Italian healthcare system, reimbursement frameworks, and regional decision-making processes.* Established network of contacts within national and regional public health institutions.* Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.* Proficiency in English and Italian (verbal and/or written) required due to global collaboration needs.**Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred** **Qualifications):*** Experience engaging with national immunization technical bodies (e.g., NITAG, CTS, Ministero della Salute).* Understanding of public health epidemiology and vaccine-preventable disease burden.* Familiarity with vaccine tendering processes and public procurement mechanisms.* Experience operating effectively in a cross-functional, matrix environment.**Pay & Benefits****At Moderna, we believe that when you feel your best, you can do your best work.
