Charles Irvine is seeking a Milan-based Managing Director to join as a key member of its growing pan-European team to build our capital markets and property finance business in Italy and to contribute to the growth and success of our firm across Europe. The successful candidate will be experienced, competent, conscientious, highly motivated, and a self-starter.
Primary responsibilities include originating and leading the execution of capital markets and property finance transactions. This professional will also have strong marketing and relationship skills and a broad referral network from which to generate new business for the firm. The successful candidate will be the primary representative of Charles Irvine in Italy.
Responsibilities
- Actively pursue business development opportunities and originate new client engagements.
- Develop prospect and referral networks and support the firm’s efforts in developing and executing business development and marketing strategies.
- Lead client mandates client engagements with support from deal teams on a variety of transactions, from initial opportunity development and client pitch to transaction execution and closing.
- Manage day-to-day aspects of client relationships, transactions, and teams and serve as primary client contact on engagements.
- Attract experienced capital markets and property finance professionals to the company.
- Provide leadership, professional development and mentoring for team members.
- Assume legal appointments of corporate and, if necessary, regulatory positions on the corporate entities of the Charles Irvine platform in Italy.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial real estate investment agency, debt advisory, capital advisory, lending/banking, and/or investment banking with a focus on real estate.
- Proven track record of fee generation through new business development efforts, originating, executing, and closing capital markets and/or property finance engagements.
- Established and demonstrable network of relationships and contacts with real estate owners, private equity firms, family offices, lenders, and referral sources.
- Demonstrated experience with managing day-to-day aspects of client relationships, transactions, and internal deal teams.
- Demonstrated deep understanding of real estate capital markets and/or property financing process, complex transactions, creating buyer/seller strategies, deal structuring and negotiation. A presentation of a “deals done” list will be required.
- An appetite to work in a team-oriented environment with the ability to think creatively and act collaboratively, playing a key role in driving Charles Irvine’s long-term success.
- MRICS, ACA (or equivalent), CFA qualifications are an advantage.
- Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time.
Compensation
The Managing Director position will provide a market compensation package being a combination of a base salary (if required) plus significant performance-based upside. Equity at local platform level and/or group level may be available for the right candidates and subject to performance.
