We are looking for a passionate Malware Research Engineer to join our research and development team in Perugia, Italy. We want somebody with the real passion of defending the cyber‑world, finding new malware, digging into what they do and help protecting our customers by writing detection signatures as well as contributing to protection technologies. It’s more than a job, it is a mission. On‑site availability is strongly preferred.
What You Will Do
- Process daily threat‑feeds, related to newly created malware and write detection rules for various technologies.
- Investigate and resolve customer related inquiries related to protection, performance, and usability.
- Conduct research and threat hunting for the latest cyber‑web threats affecting our customers.
- Provide feedback on new projects and syntaxes/tools being developed that involve your daily work and suggest ideas how to handle different threat types.
- Support content creation efforts including threat descriptions, blogs, and presentations.
Skills You’ll Need To Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Ability to set up and conduct malware research and analysis in an emulated or virtual environment, such as VMWare, VirtualBox or Hyper‑V.
- Experience with and understanding of malware research tools involved in static and dynamic analysis, as well as core aspects of a threat research & response team.
- Experience using various operating systems – Windows, Linux, MacOS are needed.
- Ability to research and classify malicious domains and IPs.
- Good experience with programming languages such as Python, C/C++ and Assembly.
- Ability and passion to stay up to date with the latest threat landscape changes and collaborate with other researchers, coordinators, as well as developers.
- Highly developed sense of integrity and demonstrated passion for excellence with respect to treating and caring for customers.
- Creative thinking and problem solving, with a positive and motivated approach.
- Excellent communication skills and collaborative attitude.
