  • is seeking a talented, versatile, and passionate M&A Director to lead our expansion into Italy.
  • The M&A Director will operate in an entrepreneurial environment, responsible for building relationships with software business owners, brokers, and similar stakeholders, with the goal of capital deployment and investment. You will be a full-cycle M&A professional with salesmanship and charisma for business development, as well as analytical and financial expertise to manage and execute due diligence.

    You will be our first hire in Italy, with full support from our growing team of 30+ in Montreal, Canada.

    This is an excellent opportunity to manage, invest, and deploy large capital rapidly in a new region, with potential to build, grow, and manage a local M&A team.

    As an M&A Director, you will

    • Identify M&A targets, generating over $200M of buyable revenue opportunities per quarter
    • Evaluate and identify target acquisitions fitting Valsoft's criteria and determine valuation expectations
    • Conduct pre-acquisition due diligence (commercial, financial) with the Montreal team
    • Negotiate deal terms, aiming to achieve $15-20M in annual acquired revenues when fully ramped up

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
    • 3-5 years of experience in Investment banking, private equity, M&A, or corporate development
    • Strong business development and financial analysis skills, including building financial models
    • Fluent in English and Italian
    • Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time

    Preferred qualifications

    • CFA or CIIA certification
    • Familiarity with buy-and-build models and VMS or software experience
    • Additional language skills (German, French, Dutch, Spanish) are a plus
