We are looking for an experienced Logistics Specialist with strong expertise in tariffs and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes to join our supply chain team. The successful candidate will manage import/export taxations, ensure compliance with U.S. and international trade regulations, accurately classify products using HTS codes, and provide tariff cost estimates during sales process and project execution. This role requires collaboration with all global business units to maintain consistent tariff classification and compliance practices between all the Durr entities.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately classify products using HTS codes and stay current with U.S. tariff schedules and international trade regulations
- Analyze and apply tariff rates, duties, and taxes to shipments to optimize cost efficiency
- Provide detailed tariff cost estimates during the sales phase to support pricing and contract negotiations
- Update and monitor tariff estimates throughout project execution to ensure accurate budgeting and compliance
- Serve as the primary liaison with all global business units to ensure alignment on tariff classifications and customs compliance
- Monitor changes in U.S. and international trade laws, tariffs, and trade agreements; communicate impacts to relevant stakeholders
- Review import/export documentation to ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and other regulatory requirements
- Conduct audits of shipping documentation and tariff classifications to prevent errors and penalties
- Provide training and support to internal teams and global entities on tariff classification, customs compliance, and tariff estimation
- Assist in resolving customs-related issues and disputes
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, classifications, tariff applications, and cost estimates
- Collaborate with procurement, finance, sales, legal, and global teams to align logistics strategies with company policies and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of logistics experience with a focus on tariffs and HTS codes, preferably in a U.S. environment
- Strong knowledge of the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule, customs regulations, and international trade compliance
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with global teams and business units
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with U.S. Free Trade Agreements and preferential tariff programs
- Experience with Global Trade Management systems
- Master in supply chain management
- Multilingual skills are an advantage and fluent english is mandatory
