Local Procurement Buyer

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self‑motivated buyer for electronic components who thrives in a fast‑paced environment. The position is based in Naples, Italy.

Accountabilities

• Plan, select, and purchase goods and merchandise, including liaising with existing suppliers and negotiating contracts.
• Sourcing and building relations with new suppliers; monitoring market changes, competitor prices, and products.
• Analyzing past sales patterns to anticipate consumer buying trends.
• Presenting new ranges to retail managers. An Entry Professional (P1) applies broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education.
• Perform tasks that may require proficiency with close supervision; dealing with non‑complex problems and explaining facts, policies and practices related to the job area.

Required Skills and Knowledge

• Expertise with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and aptitude for learning new software and systems.
• Strong communication skills, confident and effective.
• Flexible team player, adaptable to change.
• Proven analytical ability.
• Material costing and price‑structure analysis.
• Self‑motivated and results‑oriented, able to prioritize multiple requests.
• Strong conflict‑resolution skills with suppliers and vendors.
• Excellent decision‑making, critical thinking and negotiation skills.
• ERP software knowledge preferred.

Languages

Fluent English.

Education

Associate’s degree in Electronic Engineering or Economics with technical skills related to procurement or supply chain, or a related field of study and experience that permits successful performance of the requested job.
