Linux System Administrator - HPC

Overview

If selected, after a probation period of approximately 2 months in our offices in Turin, the candidate will have the option to work remotely from anywhere in Italy, and will be requested to come to Turin once every 2 months for business meetings.

Do IT Now is looking for a passionate and very proactive Linux Systems Administrator to join HPC support team.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be responsible for installation, configuration and maintenance of HPC systems based on GNU/Linux distributions as well as all related software components. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for designing and configuring HPC cluster architectures, including all hardware and software components (servers, high-speed interconnects, storage, queue management tools, etc.). Working in a team with our application and system engineers, the candidate will identify advanced solutions, install and configure HPC applications, and develop performance improvements; and will provide client/user training.

Skills and Experience

Essential skills

• High school diploma or degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar.
• 5+ years of experience in similar roles.
• Fluent English and Italian.
• Good knowledge of Linux Enterprise distributions (RedHat EL, SLES, etc.)
• Knowledge Backup and Scripting with Bash and Python.

Technical skills and experience:

• Networking: Switching, VLAN, FireWall
• Backup and Scripting with Bash and Python
• Docker, Singularity, R.H. Container
• Automations Tools: Ansible, Puppet

Desirable skills and experience

• Openshift
• Openstack
• VmWare, Citrix, KVM, Hyper-V
• Relational database (MySQL, Ost, Postgres)
• Knowledge and previous experience of DELL, HPE and Lenovo Server Platforms.

Selection steps

The selection process includes an initial in-depth interview with the HR representative to familiarize yourself with the candidate and to provide motivation, followed by a subsequent evaluation and presentation of the technical/project topics. Meetings are primarily conducted online.
