Job Description
The person will join the Bocconi Library & Archives Unit, which supports the educational and research mission of the University with up-to-date multidisciplinary collections, quality services, and one‑to‑one assistance in selecting appropriate information and documents.
The value and completeness of its collections make the Library a landmark institution for the economic academic community in Italy.
Responsibilities
Actively contribute to providing effective and efficient reception, orientation, information and reference, circulation services to all library users by means of different modes and channels of communication. Proactively collaborate to achieve the Library strategic goals according to current projects and plans.
Main Activities
Staff the Library Information Desk as required. Support users across multiple communication touchpoints. Provide bibliographic assistance and research support to library patrons (students, faculty, staff, community members) in person, online and by appointment. Promote Library services and collections, with special focus on electronic resources (ejournals, ebooks, databases). Encourage the effective use of search tools (Discovery tool, LibGuides, catalog, databases, etc.). Identify and interpret user needs when looking for information and data, including financial and statistical data. Assist the Library team with back‑office activities such as user accounts management, study seat/workstation bookings, monitoring activities with users, and reading list management. Participate in information literacy instruction sessions to users in person, online, to individuals or groups in a classroom.
Qualifications
Graduated with a master’s degree in library and information sciences, or related subjects. Fluent in English and Italian. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and a digital approach. Curious about how a higher education institution’s library operates. Soft skills: positive, enthusiastic, very good interpersonal and teamwork skills; analytical and critical thinking; excellent communication and problem‑solving skills; hands‑on approach; customer oriented; able to organise and manage work timely and autonomously; self‑starter with strong attention to detail. Previous work experience with library activities is a plus.
