Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network that delivers fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers in regions without existing network coverage. In this role you will work on the shop floor alongside Manufacturing and Quality teams to develop engineering dispositions related to non‑conformances and to support the full lifecycle of Leo satellite production.
Key Responsibilities
- Work 1st Shift, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, Monday‑Friday.
- Review and disposition non‑conformance events in all phases of Leo operations: procurement, storage, handling, manufacturing, assembly, testing, transportation, final integration, launch and orbital operations.
- Develop standard repairs, rework procedures, propose design‑for‑manufacturing (DFM) improvements, improved processes and work instructions.
- Document static, dynamic and fatigue stress analyses when needed to support dispositions, interpreting established structural analysis reports.
- Develop analysis methods to address common structural non‑conformances.
- Provide root‑cause failure analyses in collaboration with Quality, Manufacturing and Engineering teams.
- Interact with internal customers, external customers and suppliers.
A Day in the Life
The Liaison/MRB Engineer provides engineering support to resolve issues that arise during manufacturing, assembly, quality inspection and acceptance tests, applying engineering and design principles and consulting with development teams as needed.
About the Team
The Structural Material Review Board (MRB) team is part of Leo’s Structural Integrity and Analysis organization, which includes Structural Analysis, Loads and Dynamics, Materials and Processes, and Reliability. The team is responsible for the integrity of the spacecraft and all related commodities inside and outside of the Mechanical Engineering group.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience in a Liaison Engineer / MRB role with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with project management of technical projects.
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
- Strong engineering fundamentals (statics, dynamics, modal, frequency response, random vibration, sine and acoustic analyses/tests).
- Experience with fatigue and fracture analyses.
- Knowledge of or experience with spacecraft technology and related primary, secondary, and tertiary structures.
- Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
- Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning & tolerancing and ANSI Y14.5M‑1994 drawing interpretation.
- Experience with Siemens products (Teamcenter, NX, NX Nastran).
Compensation
The base pay ranges from $105,600 per year in the lowest geographic market to $185,000 per year in the highest.
