Legal Counsel Specialist – Africa Middle East Region

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Legal Counsel Specialist is responsible for ensuring legal assistance for the specific business/area on complex regional projects as well as country specific day to day matters.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide legal advice to the specific business/area;

Analyze and monitor the evolution of the legal and regulatory framework in the key markets for the region and specifically as it applies to the business/area;

Reviewing, drafting and preparing letters, contracts and any legal documents;

Manage litigationand insolvency matters;

Participate in legal department projects;

Create, maintain, and manage appropriate and organized files regarding ongoing matters;

Organize and conduct training and provide legal information to internal clients.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS (including education & years of experience):

• 5 years + experience;
  
• Degree in Law;
  
• Previous experience in a primary law firm and/or as in-house lawyer;
  
• Fluent in written and spoken English;
  
• Proficient computer skills/Microsoft Office Suite;
  
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills;
  
• Dynamic, eye for details, well organized, results oriented;
  
• Discreet, reliable;
  
• Autonomous, able to work hands on and operational, willing to go in the field;
  
• Analytical skills and ability to synthesize and clearly communicate;
  
• Fluency in French will be considered as a valuable plus.
