Lead Mechanical Engineer

Scope of Work: You will manage and coordinate all mechanical engineering and commissioning activities across the project lifecycle. Responsibilities include: Leading and mentoring the mechanical engineering team Reviewing and validating designs, calculations, equipment selections and technical submittals Managing technical change control, BIM coordination and system documentation Planning and tracking commissioning activities, system progress and equipment delivery Developing testing protocols and overseeing flushing, balancing, pressure and leakage testing Managing and witnessing commissioning activities through to close-out Preparing RFQ packages and evaluating technical submissions Monitoring procurement progress and escalating risks early Establishing quality workflows, trackers, test packs and verification processes Promoting safe systems of work and supporting EHS requirements on site Identifying and managing engineering risks Issuing weekly engineering and commissioning reports Supporting commercial awareness by understanding the cost and programme impact of engineering decisions Requirements: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline Proven experience in a senior or lead mechanical engineering role on large-scale MEP projects Data centre or mission-critical experience strongly preferred Strong knowledge of mechanical building services systems and commissioning processes Demonstrated leadership, mentoring and team management capability Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
