Layout & Piping Material and Piping Class Engineer

Mission:

Execute the assigned activities following the instructions given by the Responsible and/or Specialist assigned to a project, and in accordance with the Engineering Practices and Quality Standards in force within the team, job requirements, time schedule and cost requirements.

Manage and define the piping quantities in term of MR, WR and feasibility studies for an assigned project.

Main activities and responsibilities:

Following the guidelines provided by the Responsible, the Layout & Piping Materials and Piping Classes Engineer has the following main responsibilities:

• Execute and coordinate, under the supervision and following the instructions of the Group Leader or of Specialist assigned to a job, the competence Group activities (piping Classes development, piping typical installation specification, piping components supply specifications, Piping specialty specifications, Technical bid evaluation and supply follow up, vendor documentation management etc.) in accordance with Codes, Standards, contractual obligations, Engineering Practices, time schedule and cost requirements;
• Execute the assigned MTO activities following the instructions given by the Project Leader and in accordance with the standards and work instructions in force within the team.
• Update the project MTO, loading in a timely manner all the data coming from the Design and Drafting Group.
• Prepare the Material Requisitions item list and submit for approval to the Project Leader, taking care that all technical annexes and supply specifications are available.
• Prepare, under the supervision of Project leader and the Responsible, the Mechanical QPL, Current
• Estimate and Current Estimate reports in accordance with the project schedule.
• Prepare the piping feasibility analysis to estimate the construction workfront;
• Prepare the Work Requisitions for the mechanical, insulation and painting contracts, checking the consistency with the WRs of other Disciplines and optimizing the erection costs.
• Keep the Responsible fully informed on the status of his/her activities.
• Ensure adequate flow of information within the project team and the Materials and Piping Classes Group.
• Proactively attend technical training in order to promote her/his own professional growth.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Experience in selection and development of Piping Material specification
• Knowledge of piping material standards European, American and international standards applicable to the petrochemical industry
• Experienced in performing material take-off either from model or from general arrangements
• Experienced in the management and control of materials used for the development of material estimates, requisitions, and procurement activities
• Experience of developing specification, procedures, work instructions
• Experienced in Microsoft Office applications
• Experience in using piping materials management software
• Experience in using 2D CAD software

Required skills:

• Degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
• Minimum of 3 years in onshore Piping Materials for petrochemical plants
• Motivation and interest in deepening technical aspects
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Willingness to travel within Italy and abroad
• Good English language skills
