Role overview
The Laboratory Technician - API Process supports activities related to research, development and scaling-up of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) processes following GLP standards and for a GMP-regulated environment. The role assists with process development, execution and monitoring, sampling, documentation, and coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure activities are performed safely, accurately, and in compliance with approved procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Support API processing activities according to SOPs, protocols, and approved instructions , ensuring compliance with GMP and site safety requirements.
- Assist with or perform (as applicable) industrial processes of loading/charging, mixing, filtration, washing, drying, and material transfers , following defined parameters and instructions.
- Monitor key process conditions (e.g., pressure, vacuum, moisture levels ) and record data accurately in logbooks and controlled documentation (paper and electronic).
- Perform in-process sampling according to procedure and coordinate timely delivery of quality control ; support the execution of activities linked to analytical analysis of processes and their outcomes, validation, or troubleshooting studies when required.
- Prepare and verify readiness of equipment and work areas prior to activities (e.g., checks, status verification).
- Support equipment cleaning, changeover, and housekeeping activities in compliance with defined procedures and GLP and GMP expectations.
- Identify and escalate atypical observations (e.g., abnormal filtration behaviour, unexpected phase separation, parameter drift), supporting investigations and corrective actions when requested.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution of planned activities and resolution of technical issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting enhancements to procedures, safety practices, and documentation flow.
Requirements
- BSc degree in engineering (chemical/process/industrial) or equivalent non-engineering degree in chemistry/industrial processes; MSc/PhD degree is a plus.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in API-related process activities; exposure to filtration, washing and drying activities in GLP and/or GMP environment a plus.
- Basic knowledge of GLP and GMP and good documentation practices (GDP) ; familiarity with data integrity principles is a plus.
- Awareness of EHS practices relevant to API environments (e.g., PPE, exposure control, solvent/corrosive handling , containment requirements where applicable).
- Ability to follow detailed instructions, record data accurately, and communicate clearly across teams.
- English proficiency : minimum B1 .
