About the Role

As a Laboratory Engineer you will perform physio-chemical testing necessary for characterization of materials, typically metals, such as tensile testing, impact testing, hardness testing, chemical analysis, and corrosion resistance assessment. You will also perform macro- and micro-structural evaluations using state-of-the-art optical microscopy image analysis. The role reports to the Manager, Manufacturing Engineering and is located in Monfalcone, Italy. It will be offered as a hybrid position, with up to 2 days per week onsite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a meaningful discussion about safety culture behaviors.
  • Verify testing samples and issuance of dimensional certificates, perform ordinary maintenance and routine checks of test equipment and apparatus, manage reagents and labware safely and according to environmental requirements, and perform materials testing in accordance with established written procedures and international standards.
  • Collect data observing requirements of the testing procedures and standard, ensure secure storage of data following raw-data management procedures, validate data produced by testing equipment or through calculations, and report test results or examination findings in tabular data or structured reports.
  • Issue testing plans, including detailed requirements for machining of samples and 2D/3D sketches; support sample machining by internal workshop or subcontractor; perform simple mechanical operations such as grinding, polishing, broaching, drilling or metal cutting; and perform heat treatments of test samples in laboratory-type furnaces.
  • Follow up on machining of samples or testing performed at suppliers' facility, validate test reports issued by testing subcontractors, and assist auditors as a technical expert during qualification or follow-up of external suppliers for materials testing-related activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • 0–2 years of experience.
  • English level: intermediate B2.
