Lab Manager

SR-Tiget was created in 1996 as a joint-venture between Fondazione Telethon and Ospedale San Raffaele (OSR), with the mission to perform cutting edge research on gene and cell therapy and to translate its results into therapeutic advances for genetic diseases. The Institute is located within the OSR campus, which includes a large multi-disciplinary research hospital, a biomedical research center, a university and also hosts several biotechnologies companies. Over the years, SR-Tiget has given a pioneering contribution to the gene and cell therapy field with relevant discoveries in vector design, gene transfer and gene editing strategies, stem cell biology, identity and mechanism of action of regulatory cells in immune responses and innate immune cells in cancer. SR-Tiget has also established the resources and framework for translating these advances into novel experimental therapies and has implemented several successful gene therapy clinical trials, which have already treated >150 patients and led to the filing and approval of 3 novel advanced therapy medicines.

The position

We are looking for a motivated Lab Manager to support the activities of PDL, the SR-Tiget facility focused on:

• manipulation and genetic modification of hematopoietic stem cells and T lymphocytes (process optimization and scale-up; development of analytical methods; tech transfer to GMP facilities)
• manufacturing of lentiviral vectors at a pre-GMP level (upstream and downstream process; analytics).

Main tasks

• Lab organization supervision
• General lab and safety training to new employees and external collaborators
• Supply chain management (contacts with suppliers, quotation requests, orders, critical shipments)
• Coordination of instrument demos, installation and maintenance
• Support for document preparation and management (GMO notifications, lab procedures, reports)
• Support for budget preparation and management
• Interaction with other areas within SR-Tiget (in particular “Research Operations” and “SR-Tiget Administration & HR”), Ospedale San Raffaele and Fondazione Telethon

Qualifications and skills

• Master Degree in Life Sciences, PhD as a plus
• Extensive wet lab experience
• Fluent oral and written English
• Excellent managerial skills, reliability, precision
• Ability to work autonomously and to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
• Friendly, collaborative, pro-active mindset
