Role

Fondazione Chips-IT is looking for a highly motivated and skilled “Junior Technical Project Engineer ” to join our team. You'll work closely with our leading researchers and project managers to the successful execution and compliance to internal and external standards of National, European, and International Funded research projects as well as supporting the teams in the preparation of project proposals. In this pivotal role, you will be the bridge between our scientific research teams, the administrative teams and the Direction of the Fondazione.

This is a great opportunity for a scientist/engineer with strong organisational skills who wants to contribute to cutting-edge research from a strategic and administrative perspective.


Special provisions

  • The position is a fixed-term contract for 3 years, linked to running projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support communication & coordination: act as a key point of contact with scientist and division heads, coordinate communication with external project partners in international consortia.
  • Support documentation: maintain project documentation (e.g. Deliverables, versioning of documents, amendments…), efficient information flow and record-keeping.
  • Tracking of different lists (e.g. dissemination documents, communication activities, exploitation documents, travel activities, costs activities, different lists t.b.d.)
  • Training & guidance: Provide internal guidance to researchers on grant management procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Support reporting: support the preparation and submission of periodic and final reports (scientific, financial, and administrative) to funding agencies, gathering input from consortium partners.
  • Support organization of meeting and events.
  • Support for evaluation and management of services for partners
  • Support exploitation of results via webpages and other social networks.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in a scientific or technical field relevant to our research area (e.g., Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences).
  • Basic experience in supporting EU-funded projects (e.g., Horizon Europe, Chips JU, H2020,…). Longer experience in a similar role will be is a strong asset in the selection process.
  • Basic understanding of microelectronics field
  • Proven project management or coordination skills and experience
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken (C1/C2 level).
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools (e.g., Gantt charts, risk registers).
  • Meticulous and highly organised with a strong focus on accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with scientists, administrators, and external partners.
  • Proactive and results-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary and multicultural team.

The Foundation “Italian Center for the Design of Semiconductor-based Integrated Circuits,” also known as the Fondazione Chips-IT, is a national research center under the supervision of the Ministry of Industry.
