Junior System Operations Engineer
We are seeking a Junior System Operations Engineer to join our team. This role will focus on system provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and proactive maintenance to ensure stable, optimized operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux systems administration, configuration management, and system observability.
Key Responsibilities
In the role, the Junior System Operations Engineer will support the team in provisioning and configuring Linux-based systems, working across different server types, including edge servers and application-specific servers.
They will assist in managing system configurations to ensure consistency and compliance, using configuration management tools such as Rudder, with the goal of learning best practices for automation and environment standardization.
An important part of the role involves supporting monitoring and observability activities. The junior engineer will contribute to the operation of monitoring platforms (e.g., Zabbix), helping track system metrics, assist with alert configuration, and perform initial identification of performance issues, working closely with more experienced team members.
The Junior System Operations Engineer will also participate in routine system maintenance activities, such as updates, patching, and basic optimization tasks, gradually gaining autonomy and operational confidence.
The role additionally includes supporting the management of storage and networking configurations, primarily based on open-source solutions, with a strong focus on learning and professional growth.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- At least 2/3 years of experience in a System Operations or related role, preferably in high-demand industries like broadcast, streaming, media, or digital video.
- Basic knowledge of Linux system administration, with initial hands‑on experience in configuring and managing Linux systems, gained through academic work, labs, internships, or early professional experience.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Rudder, Chef, or Puppet, with an interest in learning how to enforce configuration standards and maintain consistency across environments.
- Introductory knowledge of monitoring and observability concepts, with exposure to tools such as Zabbix or Prometheus, and a willingness to learn how to monitor system metrics, support alerting, and analyze performance data.
- Ability to support routine maintenance activities, including updates, patching, and basic troubleshooting, under the guidance of more experienced engineers.
- Basic familiarity with open‑source storage technologies, such as Ceph or ZFS, even at a theoretical or lab level.
- Interest in capacity planning and scalability topics, with a desire to develop skills related to infrastructure growth and resource management.
- Basic scripting skills (e.g., Bash and/or Python), used for simple automation tasks and to support day‑to‑day operational activities.
- Languages : A good level of English is required
Nice to have
- Experience with or exposure to CDN infrastructures.
- Exposure to edge computing and real‑time system demands.
