Descrizione dell'offerta

Optics/Photonics company R&D position:

We are looking to hire Junior Optical Engineer/Scientist to contribute to our strategic research line on "Super-Resolution Microscopy and Retinal Imaging." This position is part of the public-private Joint-Lab collaboration between D-Tails and IIT-CLNS, supported by a five-year, large-scale research grant from the “Ministero dell'Università e Ricerca”.

The role is open to candidates holding a master’s degree (or Ph.D.) in, Biomedical engineering or related (electronics, or nanoscience), Experimental Physics/Optics or a related field.

Ideal candidates should have a strong interest in experimental optics or Photonics, image enhancement and the application of machine learning to imaging and microscopy data. The research will focus on the development of both software and hardware for advanced optical devices used in microscopy and retinal imaging, with applications spanning research, healthcare, and diagnostics.

We seek candidates passionate about scientific research and development in a private sector setting, with opportunities to publish in peer-reviewed journals, patent innovative technologies, and develop hardware systems alongside advanced image enhancement software (e.g., deconvolution, super-resolution, de-noising).

If you are excited by the prospect of contributing to cutting-edge advancements in imaging

technologies, we encourage you to apply!

We offer:

A 24-month contract with D-Tails is extended for up to five years. A competitive salary based on the candidate’s expertise, with a first revision at 18/24 months from the hiring.

Stimulating carrier opportunities. Full-time employment. Competitive and international environment in the beautiful environment of Roma. Fully equipped state of the art and modern Research equipment and laboratories located in the central part of the city inside the University “Sapienza” Campus.

The possibility to improve your expertise in the field of Optics, Imaging, image enhancement, Microscopy ophthalmoscopy, and advanced data analysis.

Qualification:

The ideal candidate should have:

• Inclination to interdisciplinary research is highly desirable.

• Experience in prototyping and alignment on the optical bench, MATLAB or Phyton programming

• Knowledge of optical bench work and instruments: Detectors (Photomultipliers- Cameras), image acquisition, and illumination systems (Laser, LED illumination), data analysis instruments (DAQ boards and oscilloscopes)

• Be highly motivated and creative individuals who want to work in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary research environment and who are willing to interact with both experimental and theoretical scientists.

Research activity:

· Design and realization/testing of a super resolution ophthalmoscope based on the S2IM technique (see reference 1 and the others ), fluorescence, reflectance and transscleral configurations.

· Alignment of optical setup with adaptive optical elements, and feedback motion control optics.

· Design and synchronization machine control routines with MATLAB.

· Design and optimization of deconvolution algorithms in MATLAB or Phyton.
