The role of a Junior Data Engineer at Canonical
Canonical has provided developers with open source since 2004, helping them build innovations such as public cloud, machine learning, robotics, and blockchain. We're looking for a marketing data analyst to join our team and execute our growth hacking strategy.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about technology, technology marketing, and the use of technology in marketing. You will prefer an environment emphasizing ownership of campaigns, collaboration, learning, curiosity, and continuous improvement. You will also love problem-solving, hands-on work, experimentation, measurement, and automation to streamline daily tasks.
The Marketing team at Canonical drives commercial outcomes across its product portfolio and expands the market through digital campaigns, lifecycle management, events, partnerships, and community development. This role reports to the Growth Engineering Manager within the Marketing team.
Location: This role is remote within the EMEA region.
What your day will look like
- Utilize advanced data analytics to grow Canonical's product adoption and market share.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis to derive insights and business outcomes.
- Design and run experiments involving data, visualization, and audience insights.
- Collaborate with teams (Product Management, Engineering, IS, Finance, RevOps) to enhance data and tools.
- Establish and maintain systems for self-service data dashboards across teams.
What we are looking for in you
- Background in data science, mathematics, actuarial science, or engineering.
- Knowledge of advanced statistics, data science, scripting languages (Python, JS), and databases (SQL).
- Strength in data analytics and visualization tools (Looker Studio, Tableau, Apache Superset).
- Ability to translate business questions into research objectives.
- Skill in selecting methodologies, synthesizing, and analyzing findings.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Resilience and willingness to challenge the status quo.
