Global Procurement Director – Direct Purchases

Join RINA’s team as a Global Procurement Director for Direct Purchases. The role is based in Genoa (Italy) within the Division.

Mission

The Global Direct Supply Chain Director will enhance the effectiveness of the supply chain, focusing on direct purchasing activities. Responsibilities include developing and implementing supply chain strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with applicable guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement global sourcing strategies for direct materials and services that align with the company’s overall business goals and needs.
  • Lead global procurement activities for direct spend categories, including materials, components, equipment, and production-related services.
  • Define and deploy strategy in all regions collaboratively with regional procurement teams.
  • Manage supplier selection, negotiation, contract management, and performance evaluation to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams such as operations, engineering, quality, internal business partners, sales, and finance to understand business requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks by developing alternative sourcing strategies and supplier diversification.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including cost reduction, supplier innovation, and process efficiencies.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, supplier performance, and procurement metrics for informed strategic decisions.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high‑performing global procurement team, promoting best practices and compliance with company policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, environmental, and ethical standards.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders worldwide to support new projects, ensuring procurement aligns with project timelines and quality standards.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Management Engineering or Supply Chain Management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive procurement experience with a focus on direct materials sourcing in a global environment.
  • Proven track record in strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and contract negotiation for direct spend categories.
  • Experience working with global supply chains and multi‑cultural teams.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement software.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • English and Italian proficiency required.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, electronics, or heavy industry.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and ethical sourcing practices.
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience in diverse international markets.
