Reporting directly to the Group Tax Director, the Italy Tax Manager plays a key role within the Tax Function in managing all aspects of Italian tax matters. The position is a senior individual contributor role with full ownership in granting compliance with Italian tax regulations, managing tax risks, and providing strategic support to the business to ensure that tax considerations are fully integrated into operational and strategic decisions, in line with Group policies and regulatory requirements.
The position will be based in in Datalogic HQ in Lippo di Calderara (BO).
Role Mission
The role is responsible for managing and delivering the full scope of Italian tax activities, covering both direct and indirect taxation. This includes ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment of all statutory obligations, both annual and periodic, in compliance with Italian tax laws.
The Italy Tax Manager manages Datalogic exposure to Italian tax risks and acts as a tax business partner for operational and corporate functions, ensuring that the tax implications of business activities are properly assessed and compliant with local law and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Italian tax regulations for corporate income tax, VAT, and other relevant taxes applicable to the Italian entities of the Group, including the preparation and filing of annual and periodic tax returns.
- Identify, assess, and manage tax risks by developing and implementing mitigation actions and continuously improving tax processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls. Collaborate with Internal Audit and external auditors to support tax compliance activities.
- Manage tax and accounting implications relating to corporate income tax and VAT grouping regimes, drafting the underlying contractual arrangement documentation in connection therewith, and setting up related accounting procedures according and supporting the Finance function
- Manage current and deferred tax implications related to the adoption of international accounting standards (e.g. IAS19. IFRS2, IFRS16)
- Identify and evaluate potential tax-saving and optimization opportunities in accordance with applicable legislation and Group policies.
- Analyse and solve VAT issues (supply chain flows, triangular transactions, import/export). Support Finance function in correctly setting up accounting processes from a VAT perspective.
- Liaise with Italian tax authorities, managing tax inspections, inquiries, and audits, and ensuring timely, accurate, and complete preparation and submission of required documentation.
- Monitor developments in Italian tax legislation and practice to maintain a high level of technical expertise within the tax function. Organize and deliver tax training initiatives to increase tax awareness and understanding of tax regulations and Group tax policies across the business.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Economics, or Finance; a Master’s Degree in Tax Law or equivalent specialization is preferred.
- Languages: Fluent English/Italian, both written and spoken.
- Experience: at least 10 years of experience in Italian tax compliance and VAT, gained within a tax advisory firm.
Other Information & Specific Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools. SAP or other ERP systems knowledge preferred
- Strong understanding of Italian tax compliance processes within structured and multinational environments
- Ability to grouping, analyse financial and tax data and deliver outcomes by working with Microsoft Excel
- Solid business acumen and ability to translate tax requirements into practical, compliant solutions
