Role Description


Within one of Italy’s leading multi-utility companies, currently undergoing a major digital transformation and technological innovation journey, we are seeking an Application Solutions

Area Manager .

The selected candidate will be responsible for managing the company’s application landscape and its evolution, with particular focus on IT architecture consistency and system integrations. The role ensures scalability and security of the company’s technological ecosystem, while respecting budget constraints.

The position includes managing and coordinating a team of approximately 40 people, divided between IT and Digital Officers, operating across various areas such as development, architecture, operations, project management, and innovation.


Main Responsibilities


Leadership & Governance

  • Lead and motivate a multidisciplinary team of around 40 IT and Digital professionals.
  • Manage the technological roadmap in alignment with corporate strategies and business needs.
  • Ensure overall governance of the IT application ecosystem and digital transformation projects.

IT Architecture & Integration

  • Maintain and evolve a modular, secure, interoperable enterprise application and technology architecture, primarily cloud-based.
  • Manage integrations among heterogeneous systems through APIs and microservices orchestrated via middleware.
  • Guarantee architectural consistency across platforms such as ERP, CRM, Billing, Asset Management, SCADA, and IoT systems.

Solution Management

  • Select, assess, and supervise IT solutions that best fit the company’s needs.
  • Actively collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to deliver scalable and efficient solutions.
  • Ensure quality, sustainability, and performance of implemented solutions.

Innovation & Digital Transformation

  • Foster a culture of continuous technological innovation, promoting the adoption of modern methodologies (DevOps, Agile, low-code, AI/ML, IoT, etc.).
  • Monitor market trends and technological developments to propose high-impact innovative solutions.


Requirements


Education & Technical Skills

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other STEM disciplines.
  • Solid experience (at least 7–10 years) in IT leadership roles, with strong focus on:
  • Enterprise solution architecture
  • Integration of complex systems
  • Coordination of large teams
  • Expertise in:
  • ERP (SAP), CRM (Salesforce), billing systems (SAP I-SU), cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Distributed architectures, API management, middleware
  • Application security and regulatory compliance (GDPR, ISO, NIS)
  • DevOps, CI/CD, IT monitoring and management tools
  • Knowledge of processes and solutions in the Utilities sector is considered a strong plus

  • Strategic leadership and ability to guide large, diverse teams.
  • Excellent communication and mediation skills with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Strong results orientation, holistic vision, and systems thinking.
