Position Title: Integration & Interface Manager
Location: Milan, Italy
Reports To: Project Manager
The Integration & Interface Manager (PMC perspective) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling all technical and execution interfaces between engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations teams across multiple contractors and project packages. This includes managing interfaces between onshore and offshore scopes, process facilities, subsea systems, pipelines, utilities, third-party infrastructure, and regulatory bodies, ensuring that all works are fully integrated into a unified delivery plan that meets schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
General Description of Role and Responsibilities ( but not limited to ):
Interface Management Planning
- Develop and implement the Project Interface Management Plan in alignment with PMC and client procedures.
- Establish the Interface Register to log all internal and external interface points, responsibilities, and deadlines.
- Define interface control procedures and communication protocols between contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
Coordination & Integration Oversight
- Facilitate regular interface coordination meetings between EPC/EPIC contractors, licensors, vendors, and client teams.
- Ensure technical and execution interfaces are identified early and resolved in a timely manner.
- Integrate engineering deliverables, procurement activities, and construction sequences to eliminate scope gaps or overlaps.
- Coordinate tie-in and hook-up plans between different facilities and packages.
Technical Data & Deliverables Control
- Monitor the flow of technical data, drawings, and documents between interface parties.
- Ensure design changes in one package are communicated and approved across all affected scopes.
- Verify alignment of specifications, codes, and standards at interface boundaries.
Schedule Integration & Milestone Tracking
- Work closely with the PMC planning team to integrate interface milestones into the master project schedule.
- Track critical interface dates and highlight risks of delay to PMC management.
- Ensure readiness of interface deliverables before construction or commissioning handover points.
Risk & Issue Resolution
- Maintain an Interface Issues Log with status tracking and escalation paths.
- Identify risks to schedule, cost, and quality due to interface misalignment and propose mitigation measures.
- Support resolution of contractual disputes related to interface responsibilities.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate with host facilities, joint venture partners, port authorities, utility providers, and government agencies for cross-boundary interfaces.
- Manage integration with operations and maintenance teams to ensure smooth start-up and handover.
Key Deliverables
- Approved Project Interface Management Plan.
- Updated Interface Register and Issues Log.
- Weekly and monthly interface status reports for the client.
- Agreed and tracked interface milestones within the master schedule.
- Interface closure certificates before handover between contractors or phases.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or equivalent).
- 15+ years oil & gas project experience, with at least 5 years in PMC or client-representative interface management roles.
- Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of offshore experience in total, with at least the last 3–5 years spent on offshore projects.
- Proven experience in EPC/EPIC project execution, including offshore, subsea, and onshore facilities.
- Strong understanding of engineering design, construction, and commissioning processes in the oil & gas sector.
- Familiarity with interface management tools and software.
- Experience in integrated mega-projects involving multiple EPC packages.
- Knowledge of risk-based interface management and advanced coordination methods.
- Exposure to FIDIC or similar EPC contract structures regarding interface clauses.
