Integration Engineer

CONTEXT

The candidate will play a key role in leading the implementation, migration, and operational excellence of our next-generation middleware platform: Boomi. This role will be pivotal in managing interface migration, establishing development standards, and ensuring secure and scalable integration across global systems (SAP ECC/S4, MDM, CRM, MES, BI, etc.).

The candidate will also be responsible for the management of other integration systems such as SAP PI/PO, ODI, and BTP CPI, which will be maintained during the migration to the new middleware platform.

The ideal candidate is:

A talented IT professional with a strong background in enterprise integration platforms, capable of managing complex transformations in a global environment.

Experienced in leading interface migrations, defining integration governance, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Comfortable working across multiple systems and platforms, including SAP, and passionate about implementing best practices in integration design and execution.

MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Process Design

• Define and implement development standards, governance models, and secure-by-design integration patterns
• Collaborate with architecture and security teams to define interface lifecycle and documentation standards
• Support the transition from legacy middleware systems to modern iPaaS solutions

Project Execution

• Own the technical implementation of the new middleware platform (Boomi or equivalent), including environment setup (dev/staging/prod)
• Lead or support the migration of over 1,000 existing interfaces from SAP PI/PO and ODI in collaboration with external partners
• Configure, develop, and deploy integration workflows across enterprise systems (SAP, CRM, MDM, MES)
• Implement automated testing, monitoring, and alerting solutions for integration health and performance
• Participate in Change Advisory Boards (CABs) and project steering meetings

Business Applications Management

• Manage the lifecycle of middleware platforms, ensuring seamless integration between business applications
• Oversee the performance and maintenance of Boomi and legacy systems (SAP PI/PO, ODI, BTP CPI)
• Coordinate with strategic vendors and internal teams to deliver high-quality integration services.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
• English: Minimum level B1

Professional Experience

• 5+ years of experience in enterprise integration platforms (Boomi, MuleSoft, Workato, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
• Solid understanding of SAP ECC/S4 and API integration (HTTP, REST, SOAP)
• Experience with data formats (JSON, XML) and middleware migrations
• Strong project management skills and experience coordinating with external partners
• Knowledge of DBMS, networking, and infrastructure systems
• Familiarity with GxP, GDPR, and secure data processing standards

Additional Knowledge

• Boomi Professional Certification (preferred)
• Experience with Veeva, Salesforce, SAP MDM tools (preferred)
• Italian language skills (a plus, not mandatory)
• Experience in regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare, or finance.
