Role Purpose:
As Innovation Engineer your mission will be to execute and advance innovation projects within the Innovation & Laboratory Department, translating stakeholder inputs into validated technologies ready for transfer to the Product Platforms Department.
Reporting directly to the Innovation & Laboratory Manager, you will plan and drive projects across the full lifecycle, from idea generation and Proof of Concept (PoC) development to validation, development gates, and structured technology transfer.
You will be in charge off design, assemble, and test prototypes, components, subsystems operating across mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic domains, perform data analysis and develop algorithms.
By leveraging your expertise in laboratory testing, technology development, and data-driven innovation, you will accelerate the development of new solutions, enable effective technology transfer to the Product Platforms, and contribute directly to the organization’s strategic objectives and long-term competitive advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and consolidate inputs from internal and external stakeholders to generate innovative ideas and technology concepts.
- Plan and execute innovation projects across the full lifecycle, from idea generation and Proof of Concept (PoC) validation through development gates and technology transfer to the technical office.
- Design and assemble components, Proofs of Concept, mock-ups, and functional prototypes, operating across mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic domains.
- Analyze data acquired from sensors and laboratory testing to identify patterns, correlations, and performance trends, and develop algorithms that generate value for stakeholders.
- Conduct laboratory testing to evaluate prototype or technology performance, reliability, and readiness.
- Collaborate with external partners to research and assess alternative materials, components, and emerging technologies.
- Collaborate closely with Coffee & Beverages Community Team, Product Platforms Department, and cross-functional teams to gather insights and support technology development and validation.
- Produce laboratory test reports and technical documentation to ensure effective knowledge sharing and technology transfer to the technical office.
Key Competencies & Requirements:
Must Have:
- Master’s Degree in Mechatronic Engineering, Biomedic Engineering, Automation Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
- English knowledge: B2 level
- Microsoft Office package: good knowledge (especially Excel)
- At least 2 - 3 years of experience in the R&D area or in the Laboratory of manufacturing companies with a medium–high level of innovation.
- Hands-on experience in design, assembly, and testing of prototypes, components, and subsystems (mechanical, electronic, hydraulic).
- Strong data analysis capabilities and experience in algorithm development.
- Knowledge of data processing environment (e.G. Python)
Nice to have:
- Experience in the use of electronic prototyping tools (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc.) and sensor integration
- Experience in the use of Machine Learning (anomaly detection, regression, etc.) or AI techniques
- Experience in signal analysis (FFT, etc.)
- Experience in laboratory testing, experimental validation, and performance evaluation
- Knowledge of 3D CAD software
