Job Description
The Industrial Engineering Section Manager for UPS Healthcare South Europe is a senior leadership role responsible for driving engineering excellence, operational efficiency, and scalable growth across healthcare distribution and logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, coach, and develop a multi-country Industrial Engineering team across South Europe.
- Set clear objectives, career development plans, and technical standards for engineers.
- Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making, continuous improvement, and standardization.
- Act as escalation point for complex operational and engineering challenges.
Engineering & Operational Excellence
- Own the design, optimization, and standardization of warehouse and fulfillment processes across Healthcare sites.
- Drive productivity, quality, and service improvements using LEAN, Six Sigma, and engineering best practices.
- Ensure engineering solutions support multi-temperature, regulated healthcare operations.
- Partner closely with site operations to ensure solutions are practical, scalable, and sustainable.
Automation, Systems & Innovation
- Lead engineering input for automation projects, material handling systems, and advanced picking solutions.
- Collaborate with Technology and IT teams on WMS, data analytics, and system enablement.
- Support innovation pilots and new technologies that enhance service, accuracy, and labor efficiency.
Network Design & Capacity Planning
- Lead capacity modeling, volume forecasting, and space planning to support growth and new business.
- Support new customer implementations and expansions with engineering feasibility and cost analysis.
- Contribute to network-level optimization initiatives across the South Europe region.
Capital & Governance
- Develop business cases for CAPEX investments, including automation and facility upgrades.
- Ensure engineering projects follow UPS Healthcare governance, validation, and approval processes.
- Track benefits realization and post-implementation performance against targets.
Stakeholder & Customer Engagement
- Act as a trusted engineering advisor to Operations, Commercial, Finance, and external customers.
- Participate in customer workshops, solution design phases, and executive reviews.
- Translate complex data and analysis into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in Industrial / Fulfillment / Logistics Engineering.
- Proven people leadership experience managing engineering teams across multiple locations.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, process design, and productivity measurement.
- Experience in healthcare, pharma, or regulated logistics environments.
- Solid understanding of LEAN / Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Advanced analytical skills (Excel, data modeling, KPIs).
Preferred
- Experience leading warehouse automation or material handling projects.
- Exposure to WMS platforms and data-driven operations.
- Familiarity with GDP/GMP requirements in healthcare logistics.
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Supply Chain is a plus.
- Green Belt / Black Belt certification is an advantage.
