Job Title: HSE Manager – Onshore Wind Project (Contract)

About the Role
Our client, a global renewable energy company specializing in the development and installation of wind projects, is seeking an experienced HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) Manager to support the safe and compliant delivery of an onshore wind installation in Puglia, Italy. This is a contract role with responsibility for ensuring all site activities are performed in accordance with Italian legislation, company standards, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and review of HSE documentation prior to installation start in November.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Italian laws, regulations, and standards governing health, safety, and environmental protection.
- Monitor site execution during installation, carrying out inspections and audits to ensure safe practices are maintained.
- Verify that all suppliers, subcontractors, and contractors working on site hold the appropriate documentation, permits, and certifications.
- Coordinate and enforce site HSE requirements, including induction training, risk assessments, method statements, and emergency preparedness plans.
- Act as the primary point of contact for HSE matters, liaising with project management, suppliers, and local authorities where necessary.
- Conduct regular site visits (approx. 1–2 days per week) to oversee HSE compliance and provide guidance to site teams.
- Report, investigate, and follow up on any incidents, near-misses, or non-compliance issues.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the project team and supply chain.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an HSE Manager (or equivalent role) within construction, renewable energy, or heavy industry projects.
- Strong knowledge of Italian HSE legislation, rules, and compliance requirements.
- Background in onshore wind or energy projects highly desirable.
- Ability to review, prepare, and implement HSE documentation effectively.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence contractors and stakeholders.
- Fluent in Italian (mandatory) and English (preferred).
- Flexibility to attend site 1–2 days per week and travel as required.
