About Us
We are a privately held company founded in 2021 and based in Maranello, led by an OEM-experienced senior management team. We specialise in design, simulation, and software engineering applied to advanced powertrain and vehicle development.
Working in a multidisciplinary and fast-paced environment, you will contribute to the verification and validation of automotive control systems through advanced Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) testing.
Role Overview As a HIL Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing HiL test environments to validate powertrain and vehicle control software. You will work on real-time simulation systems, ensuring robust and reliable ECU behaviour before vehicle integration.
Responsibilities
Development and execution of test cases for system-level and component-level requirements
Setup, configuration, and maintenance of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) systems
Development and integration of real-time plant models (powertrain, vehicle, and subsystems)
Implementation of automated test procedures and validation frameworks
ECU software integration, flashing, and debugging on HiL platforms
Development of interfaces between vehicle models and HiL systems (Powertrain-in-the-Loop)
Analysis of test results, identification of issues, and root cause investigation
Collaboration with control software, calibration, and system teams to ensure requirement coverage
Support validation activities from MiL/SiL to HiL and vehicle testing
Documentation and reporting of validation activities and test results
Strong background in control systems and powertrain architectures (ICE, hybrid, or electric)
Solid understanding of vehicle electrical/electronic architecture
Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, CAN FD, LIN, Ethernet)
Hands‑on experience with HiL systems and real-time simulation environments
Experience with plant modelling development and system simulation concepts
Experience in real-time modelling and co‑simulation environments
Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow
Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and thermodynamic system behaviour
Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
Professional proficiency in English (written and spoken)
Ability to work in cross‑functional teams
Desired Skills
Experience with VI‑grade's HiL platform based on AutoHawk Concurrent and the toolchain SIMulation Workbench
Knowledge of test automation frameworks and scripting (Python, etc.)
Familiarity with calibration processes
Experience in ECU software integration and debugging
Experience with version control and issue tracking tools (Git, Jira, Bitbucket)
Understanding of Engine Control Units (ECU) and Vehicle Control Units (VCU)
Qualifications
Master's degree in Vehicle Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar
Ideally 2+ years of experience in HiL testing, control systems validation, or automotive software verification
