Company Overview

My client is a well-established, private equity-backed independent power producer with a strong and growing presence across Europe. Following a recent acquisition in 2024, the business is entering a new phase of expansion, with a significant renewable energy pipeline in Italy multi GW portfolio across solar PV, onshore wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

The Italian platform is headquartered in Milan, with a large team of professionals and a strong track record in project development and execution. The company has a well-resourced origination function across Europe and is now looking to strengthen its commercial capabilities in Italy.

The Role

The Head of PPA Origination will lead commercial origination activities in Italy, with a strong focus on corporate PPAs and BESS offtake structuring. This is a senior, front-office role requiring a highly entrepreneurial and sales-driven individual with deep market knowledge and an established network of corporate energy buyers.

The position sits within a broader European origination team and will work closely with senior leadership, including the Head of Origination. While initially an individual contributor role at Director level, there is clear potential to scale responsibilities in line with the growth of the Italian portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the origination, structuring, and execution of long-term corporate PPAs in Italy
• Drive BESS offtake origination, including development of innovative commercial structures
• Identify, engage, and manage relationships with key corporate offtakers and energy buyers
• Leverage existing industry network to originate new commercial opportunities
• Collaborate cross-functionally with development, finance, legal, and engineering teams
• Structure commercially viable and competitive energy solutions tailored to client needs
• Monitor Italian energy market dynamics, regulatory developments, and procurement trends
• Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and client meetings

Candidate Profile

• 5+ years’ experience in renewable energy origination, energy trading, or corporate energy sales
• Proven track record of sourcing, negotiating, and closing corporate PPAs
• Strong understanding of the Italian CPPA market and key BESS offtake dynamics
• Established relationships with corporate energy buyers and/or utilities in Italy
• Demonstrated ability in PPA structuring and commercial deal-making
• Highly entrepreneurial, proactive, and self-motivated mindset
• Strong sales orientation with excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Fluent in Italian and English
