Head of Maintenance & Engineering

Location: Milan for Engineering phase, then Afungi site in rotation

Contract: 12 months (renewable)

Rotation / Set up: Monday to Friday in Milan, then 28x28 in Afungi

Expected starting date: September 2026

Join our dynamic team as the Head of Maintenance & Engineering, where you will play a pivotal role in the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) sector. This is your opportunity to lead maintenance strategies and engineering excellence for a major LNG onshore project, ensuring operational efficiency and safety while working in the vibrant city of Milan, Italy.

Role Overview

• Ensure safety of personnel and environmental protection while maintaining technical integrity of equipment.
• Participate in near misses analyses, HAZOPs, technical reviews, risk assessments, safety audits, and incident analyses.
• Lead the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMIMS) and oversee contract and engineering disciplines.
• Control reporting of planned and unplanned interventions through CMIMS and ensure thorough analysis by all departments.
• Manage the CMIMS PM module for optimal system function and integrity.
• Maintain and update the CMIMS database regularly.
• Review and adjust preventive maintenance plans periodically.
• Supervise scheduling of all work requests to ensure coherence.
• Coordinate preparation and updating of monthly reports on key performance indicators for higher management.
• Prepare annual budget for maintenance activities and follow up with finance monthly.
• Conduct monthly follow-up review meetings with all maintenance disciplines.
• Provide guidance and technical expertise to achieve maintenance at minimum cost.
• Regularly review documentation, procedures, safety manuals, and archive relevant documents.
• Produce new procedures as necessary and validate maintenance procedures for implementation.
• Ensure quality control during maintenance activities.
• Advise Plant Maintenance and Reliability teams in solving technical problems.
• Conduct root cause analysis of failures to improve reliability and reduce technical failures.
• Ensure availability of spare parts and materials for maintenance works through periodic stock reviews.
• Coordinate contract site activities ensuring compliance with deliverables, quality, safety, and performance.
• Develop technical work scope for contracts and review documents for contractor pre-qualification.
• Archive all operational documents and procedures.
• Manage employee development, focusing on maximizing performance, especially for Nationals.
• Identify training needs and implement approved training development programs within the department.

Skills & Qualifications

• Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) expertise: In-depth knowledge of LNG operations and maintenance.
• Audit skills: Experience in conducting audits related to maintenance processes.
• CMIMS proficiency: Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems to enhance maintenance efficiency.

Education & Experience

• Qualifications: Master’s degree or higher in Rotating/Mechanical, Instrumentation/Control, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent with international standards.
• Experience: Minimum 20 years of specific maintenance experience in the oil, gas, or petrochemical industry.
• Senior Maintenance Positions: At least 10 years in senior roles with excellent leadership capabilities managing a team of 50 staff.
