The Client

Our client is an established yet fast‑growing renewable energy developer with a strong international presence. Focused on delivering high‑quality solar and energy storage assets, they are currently expanding their technical team in Italy to support an active and growing development pipeline.

The Role

As Head of Engineering , you will lead the design, optimisation, and delivery of large‑scale solar PV and battery storage projects across Italy. This position is integral to ensuring technical excellence, compliance, and innovation within the company’s growing portfolio — contributing directly to the energy transition and the company’s long‑term success.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering function for utility‑scale PV and energy storage projects, from early‑stage design through to execution.
• Develop and optimise system layouts, electrical configurations, and detailed designs in line with project requirements.
• Oversee technical due diligence, feasibility studies, and energy yield assessments.
• Manage compliance with Italian and international electrical standards, ensuring quality and safety throughout all project stages.
• Interface with local authorities to address secondary permitting requirements and ensure all technical documentation meets regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with development, project management, and procurement teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• Represent the engineering team in strategic discussions, supporting continuous improvement and innovation across the business.

Requirements

• Degree‑qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience leading engineering or technical functions within solar PV (experience in BESS a plus).
• Proficiency in design and simulation tools such as PVsyst, AutoCAD, and QGIS.
• Strong knowledge of Italian electrical standards, permitting processes, and project execution practices.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and leadership skills.
• Fluency in Italian and English (Spanish advantageous).
