Role Purpose

This newly created role will lead the Recordati early investment initiative, creating an ecosystem to access innovation and support the company's long-term growth. The role involves extensive international travel and can be based in Milan, US (NJ), London, or Paris.

The candidate must hold a scientific PhD and MBA.

Objectives of the Role

  • Identify and evaluate potential early investment opportunities
  • Ensure proper due diligence, valuation, and senior management endorsement
  • Lead investment contract negotiations
  • Monitor the investment portfolio effectively
  • Develop and implement the ALBA investment strategy in collaboration with stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Proactively seek and evaluate investment opportunities, coordinating with relevant functions
  • Lead due diligence assessments and seek endorsement from the Steering Committee
  • Manage and monitor the investment portfolio, collaborating to act on relevant assets timely
  • Stay informed about innovation initiatives, breakthrough technologies, and the competitive landscape to execute the investment strategy
  • Organize hackathon initiatives
  • Foster partnerships with investment firms, VCs, innovation hubs, biotech companies, and academia

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Scientific PhD degree and MBA required
  • At least 10 years' experience in the pharmaceutical sector, including roles in business development and venture capital
  • Deep understanding of pharmaceutical R&D; experience in the rare disease space is a plus
  • Strategic thinking and strong pharma industry knowledge
  • Analytical skills with financial acumen
  • Ability to work globally and across cultures
  • Creative lateral thinking combined with technical expertise and broad industry experience
