The Head of Discretionary will contribute to the development and implementation of the firm’s sales programme into the Italian marketplace with an emphasis on opening and broadening wholesale channels for investment management products, with the goal of significantly growing market penetration among large wholesale clients across Italy.
Responsibilities
- The Head of Discretionary will chip into the development and implementation of appropriate sales strategies and objectives across the target client segments to deliver prime rate service out of Milan to domestic clients in Italy.
- The focus will be on wholesale clients across Italy. In this role, you will report to the Country Head, Italy and will have the following responsibilities :
- Improve and increase the distribution of Columbia Threadneedle’s investment management products to key client segments through an active, competitive sales approach and a detailed and persistent approach of the target client segments to meet agreed gross and net sales targets.
- The Head of Discretionary will be responsible for the Wholesale channel mainly by covering Fund buyers, Unit Linked, allocators and fund of funds.
- Establish and develop appropriate and lasting relationships with key clients in the interest of building profitable customer relations and attaining ambitious sales objectives.
- Act as a critical link in account management and client coordination matters working with the Product teams based in London.
- Work closely with the Sales Manager in the Italian team to cross sell products within clients of the same group and collaborate and identified common trends and topics.
- Work closely and participate in a partnership spirit with the client service and marketing team in Milan / London, drawing upon extensive research and investment management policies to access and serve the client base.
- Originate / Participate in marketing activities of the firm to ensure that they focus on addressing the requirements of the wholesale clients in Italy.
Qualifications
- To be successful in this role you will have....
- Experienced, self-motivated, highly upbeat sales professional with a sharp insightfulness and a strong, principled intuition for business
- Working with team members within the sales department in Italy and with other team of the Italian branch like marketing, Clients Service and Compliance to achieve target.
- Deep capital markets knowledge and experience dealing with a broad range of investment strategies
- Extensive experience in understanding of all wholesale client segments and product features, in addition to regulatory limitations / requirements on investment strategies
- Proven track record to market and sell in the broadest sense, i.e., client segmentation, identification of the appropriate products per client type and preparation and implementation of sales tactics
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to clearly articulate sophisticated concepts, ideas, and processes at a very senior level
- Flexible, dynamic, well-organised and willing to travel
- Experience of having lived and worked in Italy ensuring a strong awareness of the key cultural and business mentality of the local market
- Proficient in English
