Role Overview: The Head of Deposits, Investments and Daily Banking for BBVA Italy will be responsible for defining and executing the local strategy for current accounts and daily banking products, ensuring alignment with the overall goals of BBVA Digital Banks. This role involves leading a small team with local expertise in product development, customer experience, and insights, while working in close coordination with the central product and operations teams located in BBVA's Madrid headquarters. Therefore, the role requires a mid‑senior level of knowledge and experience as well as a Fintech mindset and hands‑on working approach. The role ensures Italy’s insights and regulatory needs are represented in global decision‑making while guaranteeing consistent execution of centrally defined strategies.

Core Responsibilities

Local Strategy & Insights

  • Collect local customer and market insights and dynamics to inform strategy regarding current accounts and daily banking.
  • Contribute to the overall product strategy by reflecting local market needs for daily banking solutions.
  • Ensure local requirements and key insights are addressed by connecting them to central execution.

Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Manage and develop a small local team with expertise in product development, customer experience, and insights specific to current accounts.
  • Act as the single point of contact for current accounts and daily banking for BBVA Italy General Manager.
  • Coordinate local resources and ensure their effective contribution to current account product development and management.
  • Collaborate closely with the central Product and Operations teams in Madrid, ensuring coherence of product offerings and processes.
  • Drive the localization of current account features and ensure their implementation in coordination with the central team.

Product Development & Management

  • Drive growth and market positioning of Current Accounts, Deposits, Investments and Daily banking products across Italy through strategic product development, feature enhancement, and competitive analysis.
  • Oversee the design and execution of customer journeys adapted for the Italian market, focusing on account opening, daily transactions, and customer support for current accounts.
  • Manage, in coordination with central units as well as with local Finance team and country leadership, the profitability and economic conditions of the products.
  • Maintain relationships with key providers of solutions used in our processes (pricing, SLAs definition and monitoring, etc.) and identify opportunities for new partnerships.
  • Act as the ultimate center of knowledge for the products and their functioning as well as the ultimate decision point for daily operations (refunds, etc.).
  • Ensure operational efficiency and continuous improvement of customer satisfaction for daily banking services.
  • Support cross‑sell initiatives through effective product design and data utilization, leveraging both product features and customer insights.

Reporting and Alignment

  • Report hierarchically to the GM of Digital Bank Italy and systematic coordination and alignment to the Global Heads of Deposits and Daily Banking.
  • Ensure all activities are in alignment with central standards and execution to maximize scale and cost efficiency.

Key Competencies

  • Deep knowledge of the Italian banking market and customer behavior related to daily banking, acquired through a 10+ years Product career in the financial services sector.
  • Strategic thinking with an ability to translate global strategies into local action.
  • Experience operating in matrix organizations, balancing local adaptation with global consistency.
  • Familiarity with multi‑country governance and forums, ensuring disciplined alignment with central planning cycles.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a team in a collaborative, connector role.
  • Strong understanding of current account products, daily banking services, and financial product development principles and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with central and local teams.
  • Results‑oriented with a focus on measurable outcomes.
  • Native Italian speaker, fluency in English a must, Spanish preferable.
