HEAD HOST / HOSTESS

We are looking for a poised and guest-focused Head Host/Hostess to be the first welcoming presence at our restaurant, located in the heart of the Tuscan countryside at Tenuta Toscana, a prestigious real estate development.

The ideal candidate will embody the warmth, elegance, and attention to detail that define luxury hospitality, creating a gracious first impression and ensuring a smooth and personalised guest journey from arrival to departure. A natural sense of courtesy, excellent communication skills, and an approachable yet refined presence are essential.

In addition to managing reservations and coordinating the guest flow in the restaurant, the Head Host/Hostess will also be responsible for introducing and presenting the curated experiences available at Tenuta Toscana, helping guests discover the authentic richness of the destination.

This role will report to the Restaurant Manager and will collaborate closely with the service team to uphold the highest standards of guest experience, and atmosphere throughout each service period.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Greet each guest with a warm, personalized welcome, creating an inviting atmosphere that sets the tone for a memorable dining experience
• Ensure a seamless guest flow by efficiently coordinating the entrance, waiting areas, and table assignments, optimizing comfort and efficiency
• Collect guest preferences during their visit, ensuring that relevant details are accurately recorded in the guest profile for future reference and personalized service on subsequent visits
• Share relevant information about the culinary experience and the philosophy of Tenuta Toscana, engaging guests with stories about dishes, wines and other dining experience available in the premises so to enrich their experience
• Monitor guest satisfaction throughout their visit, anticipating needs and addressing requests promptly to exceed expectations
• Manage table reservations efficiently, ensuring bookings are properly logged and the dining room is organized for a smooth operation
• Optimize guest flow by coordinating arrivals and seating arrangements to minimize wait times while maintaining a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere
• Ensure the dining area is always pristine, overseeing table settings, lighting, and ambiance to maintain an elegant and refined environment
• Collaborate closely with the service team to ensure smooth operations, intervening as needed to support in servicing the tables
• Manage special requests and coordinate bookings of small private events, ensuring every detail is executed with the utmost care and attention
• Maintain impeccable professionalism and discretion, treating each guest with the highest level of respect and ensuring they feel valued and appreciated
• Respect guest privacy by handling preferences and personal information with the utmost confidentiality and discretion
• Promote the values of Tenuta Toscana, adhering to the highest standards of excellence and professionalism, contributing to a respectful and cohesive work environment

Requirements

• Degree in Languages, or Tourism, or a related field or equivalent background
• At least 3 years of experience in a similar role within a luxury environment, ideally within a 5-star setting
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage guests in a warm, friendly, and professional manner
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to anticipate guest needs and provide a seamless, exceptional experience
• Fluent in both English and Italian, a third language considered an advantage
• Strong organizational abilities, able to effectively manage multiple tasks and always ensure the smooth operation
• Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate the needs of the restaurant
• Familiarity with POS systems and basic restaurant management software is a plus
• Professional grooming and appearance, consistent with the high standards of a luxury 5-star environment

This position is based in Tuscany. Availability of staff accommodation upon request. Candidates should have a flexible schedule with the ability to work all shifts, weekends and holidays. You must possess the legal right to work in Italy.
