Free2Move eSolutions ( a Stellantis company ( ready to become an international leader in the design, manufacture and supply of e-mobility products and services , is looking for a Hardware Test Engineer with a strong hands-on and analytical mindset, experienced in the design, setup, and operation of laboratory test benches for AC/DC EVSE systems and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) applications.

You will be a key member of a multidisciplinary development team, working alongside system, electronic, and software engineers to validate, characterize, and enhance the hardware performance of new devices and components for e-mobility and smart energy management solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Test Development and Execution

  • Design, build, and maintain laboratory test benches and simulation setups for AC and DC charging systems.
  • Develop manual or automated test procedures for validation of electronic components, power modules, and control units.
  • Perform electrical, thermal, and functional measurements on prototypes and production samples.
  • Analyze test results and prepare detailed technical reports , highlighting deviations, anomalies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the design team to identify and resolve hardware and system integration issues .

2. Product Development Support

  • Provide technical input on testing requirements during the product specification phase (AC/DC EVSE).
  • Participate in the characterization and qualification of new electronic components, sensors, and power or control modules.
  • Support validation of communication and control functionalities (e.g., CAN, Modbus, OCPP, ISO 15118).
  • Contribute to electrical, environmental, and safety qualification according to relevant standards (IEC, EN, UL).

3. Laboratory Management

  • Manage and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation (power supplies, oscilloscopes, electronic loads, network analyzers, EV simulators).
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety procedures and good laboratory practices .
  • Coordinate testing activities both internally and with external laboratories or certification bodies , when required.


Requirements and Skills:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics (or equivalent).
  • A technical diploma with significant hands-on experience will also be considered.

Technical Skills:

  • Solid understanding of power electronics principles (AC/DC converters, inverters, PWM control, filters, protection circuits).
  • Ability to design and operate test benches for power and control circuits.
  • Experience with electrical measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers, electronic loads, network analyzers).
  • Knowledge of EVSE architectures (AC/DC) and relevant standards (IEC 61851, ISO 15118, CHAdeMO, CCS).
  • Familiarity with communication protocols used in energy and automotive systems (CAN, Modbus, TCP/IP ).
  • Experience with automated testing tools or scripting (Python, LabVIEW, or similar) is a plus.
  • Understanding of electrical safety and EMC standards .

  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple test activities.
  • Effective technical reporting and documentation abilities.
  • Curiosity and a practical attitude toward experimentation and problem-solving.


Role Objectives (First 12 Months):

  1. Design and implement test benches for AC/DC EVSE and V2G controller validation.
  2. Support product validation and certification activities (performance, safety, communication).
  3. Collaborate with the development team to improve hardware reliability and robustness .
  4. Develop and standardize testing and validation procedures for R&D and production use.


Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience in power electronics or embedded hardware testing .
  • Background in e-mobility , smart grid , or renewable energy systems .
  • Familiarity with hardware/software environments or automated test setups.
