Job Description :

The Group Government and Public Affairs Specialist supports the strategic positioning of Hitachi Rail’s Business Unit by managing institutional relationships and monitoring regulatory and geopolitical developments where the company operates. The role ensures compliance with corporate standards, especially anti-bribery and integrity policies.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Support the Senior Vice President in managing institutional relations with:
    • National and local governments (ministries, parliaments, agencies)
    • Regulatory bodies
    • Public institutions and stakeholders
  • Monitor and analyze political, regulatory, and geopolitical landscapes in key markets.
  • Prepare briefings, reports, and strategic analyses for decision-making.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Compliance, Business Development, and other internal functions to ensure alignment.
  • Represent the company at institutional meetings and public affairs events as delegated.
  • Ensure all activities comply with internal policies and applicable laws, especially anti-bribery and anti-corruption regulations.

Qualifications :

  • Master’s in Political Science, International Relations, Law, Public Administration, Communication, or related fields.
  • 5–10 years of experience in government affairs, institutional relations, public policy, or regulatory sectors, preferably in multinational or regulated industries like transport, energy, or infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of political and institutional dynamics at national and international levels.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills.
  • High integrity and compliance commitment.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural, matrix environment.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience in transport or infrastructure sectors.
  • Familiarity with EU institutions and international regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience managing stakeholder engagement strategies.
