Position: Grid Connection Engineer

Who are we recruiting for:

Our client is a leading international IPP with a strong focus on solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and grid-connected projects. With ambitious growth plans in Italy, including large-scale PV development and hybrid BESS integration, the company is expanding its Global Engineering & Technical Support (GETS) team to support projects across the full development and construction lifecycle.

This role offers the opportunity to join a multidisciplinary engineering team, primarily supporting grid connection projects in Italy while also providing remote technical support to international assets.

What will you be doing:

• Act as a technical reference for grid connection and electrical engineering activities within the GETS team, with a strong focus on Italian regulations, codes, and design standards
• Support PV and BESS projects across all phases, from early-stage development through EPC and commissioning
• Conduct grid connection feasibility studies, including load flow, short-circuit, and stability analysis for PV and BESS projects
• Prepare preliminary electrical layouts, network impact assessments, and CAPEX estimates for grid connection scopes
• Coordinate with DSOs (Distribution System Operators), TSOs (Transmission System Operators), and local authorities to obtain permits and grid access approvals
• Perform site visits to evaluate electrical infrastructure and identify potential connection challenges
• Review and approve design documentation, single-line diagrams, and protection schemes in line with Italian standards and contractual requirements
• Support QA/QC activities, testing procedures, and as-built documentation for grid connection works
• Collaborate closely with Construction, O&M, Asset Management, and external contractors to ensure technical alignment and timely project delivery
• Identify opportunities to optimise grid connection design standards, network integration procedures, and overall project efficiency

Are you the ideal candidate?

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in electrical engineering roles related to PV and BESS grid connection projects
• Strong knowledge of Italian electrical codes and standards, including CEI, TERNA connection rules, LV/MV regulations, and grid compliance procedures
• Solid understanding of PV and BESS project design, construction, and authorisation processes in Italy
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, ETAP, PVSyst, and/or PowerFactory; experience with SCADA and protection design is a plus
• Degree in Electrical, Power, or Renewable Energy Engineering
• Fluent in Italian with strong technical English skills
• Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities, with high attention to detail
• Ability to work independently in a cross-functional, international team environment
